I am a registered psychologist and a member of The Australian
Psychological Society (APS). I am also a member of the clinical
college of the APS. I have a Doctor of Clinical Psychology
specialising in child, adolescent, and family psychology.
My training primarily focused on cognitive-behavioural therapy (CBT).
However, I also use mindfulness (ACT), interpersonal therapy, and
supportive counselling within my therapeutic work.
For several years I worked in public mental health with children,
adolescents, and families. Since having children of my own, I have
worked part-time in private practice, firstly in the north-west of
Melbourne, then in the outer East. Since this time I have been
seeing adults as well as children and young people. In addition to
clinical work, I have a strong research/academic background, including
a previous training and teaching role with psychology students.
In my clinical work, I have assisted people with many different mental
health issues, including depression, anxiety, and behavioural problems
such as aggressive and oppositional behaviour, as well as psychosis and
self-harm. I use individual therapy to assist people at any stage of
development (childhood, adolescence, adulthood, older adults) to manage
their mental health. I have a strong focus on working collaboratively
and openly, with a shared understanding of the presenting issues and
goals for therapy.
